THE 2026 PRIMARY WORLD CUP’S

Tauranga City Basketball is holding their very popular Primary World Cups.

Date:              Thursday                     28th May 2026                                                Yr 3 & 4

                        Thursday                     4th June 2026                                                 Yr 5 & 6

Venue:           Mercury Baypark, 81 Truman Lane, Mt Maunganui  

Time:              8.30am – 3.30pm (Doors open from 8.30am – Games start at 8.45am)

Cost:               $270.00 Incl GST per team (TCBA will invoice schools)

Divisions:        Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6

Entries:            Yr 3&4 Open Wednesday 11th May – Close Friday 22nd May 2026

                        Yr 5&6 Open Monday 18th May – Close Friday 29th May 2026

These events are very popular and usually fill up very quickly.

                           24 teams – Yr 3 & 4                                                24 teams – Yr 5 & 6

  • Each school may field one Year 3/4 team and one Year 5/6 team.
  • Each team must provide one person to cover score bench for each game.
  • Teams must be school based.
  • Each team is limited to a maximum of 12 players with only 5 on the court at any given time.
  • All teams shall be mixed gender with a minimum of 2 girls per team (1 girl must be always on the court).
  • A total of over 400 children will be involved on tournament day.
  • Every team will be assured a minimum of four games – 5 pool games & finals
  • Each round robin game will be 2 x 10-minute running clock halves. There will be a 1-minute half time break.
  • This is a competitive tournament – we will finalize the draw format when we have confirmation of entry numbers.
  • All games finish the instant the hooter sounds, this is the official end of the game, not the umpires whistle.
  • Each team must have 2 adults who must supervise their teams. One being designated manager who will accept responsibility for their player’s welfare, safety and on and off court behavior and sportsmanship.
  • Medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams in each division
  • There will be a Best & Fairest selection, this is for those players who demonstrate sportsmanship. Coaches will be the main selectors.
  • Dress in the colors of nation (Prizes for best dressed nation)
